Welcome to Long Island Laparoscopy and Long Island Bariatrics.
We are happy you are considering us in assisting you with
your surgical needs. Whether you are looking to undergo a weight loss
surgery or other advanced laparoscopic surgery, or even any of the many
other surgical procedures Dr. Brackman performs, you probably share the concerns
of most patients;
safety and quality. How best does one determine whether the surgeon
in whose hands you are about to place your very life possesses the experience, skill,
and dedication you deserve? Consider the following:
Excellence and breadth of training: Dr. Brackman
completed his undergraduate and medical education at Tufts University and
Boston
University; each in the top 25 of
U.S. universities. His residency work,
including specialty training in bariatric surgery has been performed at the
legendary Boston City Hospital, as well as the Washington
Hospital Center and The Ohio State Medical Center in
Columbus, Ohio for fellowship training.

Dedication to the field of interest: Dr. Brackman has
performed extensive research in the fields of advanced laparoscopy and bariatric surgery;
publishing this research in top scientific
journals including: Obesity Surgery, Contemporary Surgery,
Journal of
Laparoscopic and Advanced Surgical Techniques, and American Surgeon.
He has been invited to present his research at national and international meetings
including: The Southeastern Surgical Society, SAGES, and the World Surgical
Congress. Various teaching positions have included posts at the Boston
University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, and the Uniformed
Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.

Experience: Dr.
Brackman has been performing advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery for over
nine years, more than most surgeons on Long Island, most of whom received no
formal training in bariatric surgery. Thousands of bariatric
surgical patients have come under his care. He has performed most major bariatric
and advanced laparoscopic procedures, having worked with many of the finest
surgeons at some of the leading institutions in the country: The Boston Medical
Center, The Washington Hospital Center, The Ohio State Medical Center, The Carolinas
Medical Center, and North Shore/Long Island Jewish Hospital. Dr.
Brackman is Board certified by the American College of Surgeons, and
an active
member of The American Society for Bariatric Surgeons, the Nassau County
Medical Society, and the Medical Society of the State of New York.
Commitment to Long
Island and beyond: We have established offices in both Nassau and Suffolk counties
to serve all of Long Island's residents, and in two locations along the
Canadian border to serve our neighbors to the north. We believe in uncompromised dedication to patients and
frequently see patients around their busy work schedules. Despite some
of the most lofty credentials of any surgeon in New York, Dr. Brackman
prefers to be considered your friend in bariatric surgery; honoring the
trust patients place in him. We hope you
choose us to be your surgical caregivers. If so, you have
already taken the first step towards changing your life.
By offering
we have placed
education, support, and communication within easy reach of all our valued
patients.
